Hakuba Accommodation with Snowbeds Travel Japan

Snowbeds Travel has been based in Hakuba since 1998. We were the first foreign owned company in town selling Hakuba accommodation and we have introduced the pleasures of skiing in Hakuba to many thousands of jet setting snow enthusiasts.

We are a boutique travel service that specialises in quality over quantity, booking custom built packages of Hakuba accommodation and local essentials for a mostly family orientated clientele. We don’t cater to cheap tour groups of young drunks that have been frequenting certain Hakuba accommodations in the last couple of seasons and avoid using those establishments that do.

Types of Hakuba Accommodation

There are many grades of accommodation in Hakuba. The town has been a ski resort since the early parts of the twentieth century and catered to a predominantly Japanese skiing clientele so things are a bit different to your average western style ski resort .

Snowbeds Travel has selected the best value for money accommodation options in Hakuba from the most exclusive luxurious properties to the best budget accommodation in town. Whether its self contained chalets or apartments, a hotel  or a cosy B&B Snowbeds Travel has the best accommodation Hakuba has to offer.

Snowbeds Travel Hakuba Accommodation Locales

Hakuba is broken up into various small areas, each with it’s own charms and local flavour, advantages and disadvantages. Snowbeds Travel book accommodations located in the best areas based on proximity to ski areas, restaurants, nightlife, shuttle bus routes and convenience for our clients. Below are 3 of the premier areas with a brief listing of their advantages and disadvantages to help you make the best choice for where to book your next Hakuba accommodation. First though, two facts about Hakuba;

1. There are virtually no ski in/ski out locations in town, only at Goryu or beside Nakiyama gelende at the south side of Happo One, not ANYWHERE else, no matter what you may have read.  and
2. Hakuba is broken up into many smaller ski areas that are not connected so unless you want to ski the same area every day that you are here you will need to take a shuttle or other form of transport at some stage.

Ski area

Pros Cons

Wadano

Most accommodation is reasonably close to the Happo runs with a few almost ski in ski out places near the Sakka lift.

Many of the higher end establishments are located here.

Shuttles for all areas go here.

A long way between points of interest along a steep, dark, icy road with no footpath.

No village atmosphere, only one bar of note and very few restaurants or apre-ski locations.

Need shuttles to get to other resorts.

Happo

A village atmosphere with many restaurants, shops and Japanese flavoured aspects all easy walking distance apart.

Adjacent  to the Happo runs of Nakiyama and the gondola area.

Shuttles for all areas go here.

Not as many user friendly for foreigners hotels although they are starting to pop up.

Prices are normally a lot higher here for accommodation, restaurants and bars.

Will need shuttles to get to other resorts.

Echoland

A village atmosphere with many bars, restaurants and shops all located in one area.

Located in the centre of Hakuba between the 2 best resorts, Happo and 47/Goryu.

Shuttles for all areas go here.

You need to take a shuttle to get to any of the resorts mostly 5 to 10 minutes away.
